Hospitality in Worship--Black Liturgies

Taught by TJ Stokes

Let’s take the ongoing conversation on hospitality that we’ve been having as a church into the space of cultural reconciliation. Through discussion and experiential learning, in this course we begin the process of being formed by rich worship practices from the Black tradition, in order to grow in a way that is both true to who we are now and anticipatory of who we seek to be—a multicultural congregation that faithfully reflects our city and the Kingdom. The Psalms guide us through the liturgies of extemporaneous praise, corporal expression, and oral culture storytelling.
