Seeking the renewal of all things through Jesus Christ

Letter to the Hebrews

Taught by Bob Newman
The Letter to the Hebrews is one of the most striking books of the New Testament. It deals with tensions faced by first-century Jewish Christians at a time when it looked dangerous to follow Jesus and safe to lay low in Judaism. The author seeks to show his readers that this strategy would be a serious and tragic mistake, a disaster of eternal proportions. In this ten-week course we seek to understand something of the background of this letter, including its authorship, date and recipients. We then go through the book section by section, seeking to understand the author’s arguments and the very important Christological and salvation history teachings. We will also suggest some lessons for believers today, in situations that are rather different.
