God has richly blessed Trinity over more than 30 years since its beginning on August 1, 1976. On that day, 110 people gathered to worship at the Baptist Student Center on the grounds of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Since then God has added to our numbers so that today we have more than 1,000 members.
May 22, 1976 – Thirty people meet with Skip Ryan, a recent seminary graduate, to discuss founding a new church in Charlottesville.
August 1, 1976 – The first worship service is held in the Baptist Student Center with 110 in attendance.
September 1976 – Attendance increases dramatically with the return of University of Virginia students to Charlottesville.
April 1977 – Trinity Presbyterian Church enters the Presbyterian Church in America with 54 charter members.
August 1977 – Regular attendance of 350 necessitates a move to Saint Anne’s-Belfield School.
January 21, 1979 – Even two services can’t accommodate the 450+ people now attending, so a third move to Jack Jouett Middle School occurs.
October 1979 – Mary Churchill and Betsy Hardeen lead an exhaustive search and locate a perfect parcel of land at the end of Fontaine Avenue, which is purchased for the church.

23, 1981 – We break ground for a new church building.
September 26, 1982 – With 1,000 in attendance, the first worship service is held in the new worship area.
April 6, 1986 – To meet the needs of the more than 300 children attending, a new education wing is built, opening in January 1987.
July 25, 1993 – John Q. Hall, Jr., is called to Trinity as senior pastor.
June 1996 – Seeking to serve the community in Christ’s name, Trinity begins an urban ministry in the Blue Ridge Commons neighborhood.
September 14, 1997 – As Trinity continues to grow, Grace Community Church is planted and holds its first worship service.
March 6, 2000 – Ground is broken for a new multipurpose building.
June 24, 2001 – Trinity’s 25th anniversary celebration and entry into the new building!
October 8, 2006 – Trinity’s 30th anniversary celebration and installation of Greg Thompson as our third senior pastor.
