What is the vision for small groups at Trinity?
To live out the Christian life means to be in intentional
community. God lives in community and
Jesus modeled community among us. Intentional
Christian communities 1) encourage personal spiritual
maturity; 2) are a ready context for ministry
and service to our brothers and sisters in Christ;
3) encourage individual and group mission; and 4) are ideal settings for pastoral oversight and
shepherding.
What can I expect from a typical small group?
A group of 10-12 adults who are:
• committed to studying the Word and praying
together
• willing to meet together weekly for about an
hour and a half
• open to folding new people into the group
regularly
Can anyone participate in a Trinity small
group?
Yes! Small groups are for Trinity members,
attenders and their neighbors.
When/where do small groups meet?
Small groups meet at a variety of times throughout
the week, mostly in people’s homes.
Who are the leaders of the small groups?
New small group leaders are members of Trinity.
Typically new leaders have participated in small
group leader training. They are also working to
identify an apprentice who will eventually take on a
group of their own. Apprentices are either Trinity
members or on a track towards membership.
What happens when a small group reaches capacity?
Once a group reaches a size to sustain a healthy
division (usually about 12), the apprentice will take
with them some subset of the old group to form a
new group. As a rule, no group should divide more
than once a year.
Are children invited to small group?
Childcare is handled individually by each small
group. Groups could decide to hire one babysitter,
rotate a parent each week, have an older child from
the group watch the younger children, or handle
childcare individually.
