CURRENT SESSION

Our next series of adult education classes runs from September 12-November 14.

Who Is Jesus?
Led by Mark Hutton
Jesus once asked an important question: “Who do people say that I am?” The answer to that question, now as then, depends on whom you ask. Jesus is portrayed in movies, music and artwork in a lot of different ways. However, the best way to discover the answer is to go to the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ life.

With that in mind, this class will look at the stories of Jesus’ conversations with a religious zealot, a woman with a less-than-perfect reputation and a host of others. Each week we will see the various ways Jesus has been portrayed through media and then go to the Bible to see Jesus as He really was—and is.

All of this is in the hopes of learning about Jesus for the first time or all over again.

Introduction to Trinity
Led by Greg Thompson
A course introducing Trinity to those who want to know more about our church, especially those considering membership. The class is designed to provide an introduction to the beliefs and life of Trinity Presbyterian Church, to prepare for membership in Trinity Church (the class is required for membership), and to provide an introduction for anyone in the basics of the Christian Gospel and in the biblical functioning of the Church as the Body of Christ. Please preregister by emailing Joyce Field.

A Skyline Drive through the Old Testament
Led by Bill Wilder
Following the Old Testament storyline (creation, fall, patriarchs, exodus, conquest, kingship, exile, return), this class will stop at various important overlooks in the Old Testament in an attempt to understand and enjoy the larger Old Testament landscape.

Special attention will be given to the way in which this landscape both anticipates and differs from the New Testament lands beyond.

Topics include the image of God, the importance of the land, holy war, covenant, faith, the law and kingship.
Join us for breakneck driving and breathtaking views.

Liturgy, Music and Space
Led by Isaac Wardell and Greg Thompson
Isaac Wardell and Greg Thompson will co-teach this course detailing Trinity’s theology of worship. This class will particularly focus on the rationale behind our choices of liturgy, our choices of songs, and how we use our worship space.

This course will also feature guest speakers, readings, musical performances, and a large format for questions and answers.

This course is made possible through a Worship Renewal Grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, Grand Rapids, MI, with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc.

Theological Foundations for Life and Ministry: Leadership Development, Part 1
Led by John Cunningham
All theology is practical. Sound ideas help people flourish; bad ideas hurt people. At Trinity we want our lives and ministry to be anchored in God’s Word. But being able to handle that Word rightly (2 Timothy 2:15) requires a firm theological foundation.

This course seeks to provide an overview of fundamental Christian theology. As part of our Leadership Development track, it is taught with an eye toward both personal growth and practical ministry. This course is a required component of officer training but is open to all.

So, if you are interested in asking the “Big Questions” and deepening your categories for theological reflection, please join us for study and dialogue.
