GAP Fellowship

The Graduate and Professional Teaching Fellowship (GAP) is a ministry of Trinity Presbyterian Church that provides an opportunity for worship, teaching and community in the name of Jesus Christ among graduate students and young professionals living in and around Charlottesville.

During the school year, GAP gathers on Sunday mornings at 10:45 for worship, teaching, and fellowship. You'll find us in room 250, on the main floor across from the elevator. For the summer months we enjoy a more casual atmosphere as we gather in a local home for a potluck dinner and Bible study.

GAP is active outside of our Sunday morning meetings, with men's and women's small groups, recreational and social events and an annual fall retreat. We also host an annual talent show for the larger Trinity family that has benefited missions organizations abroad.

We hope you'll consider joining us. If you want to be on our email list, please contact Amy Josephson at

If you have a question about our group or for our leadership team, please contact Matt Alexander at

GAP's Mission
Our desire is to delight in God more fully and to worship Him in His beauty in every aspect of our lives, being continually empowered by Christ’s death and resurrection to cast off sin, to grow in holiness and, resisting the tendencies of our culture of comfort, to rejoice anytime we find ourselves sharing in the sufferings of Christ as we serve Him in this world. (See Philippians 3:7-11 and 1Peter 4:12-13.)
Therefore, we strive to sharpen one another, prodding each other on toward the goal of glorifying God by teaching, discipling and encouraging one another from the scriptures. These things we do under the authority of Trinity Presbyterian Church and with the purpose of serving and building that manifestation of the body of Christ.

We affirm that both our redemption and sanctification rely solely upon the free gift of grace bestowed on us by God in the peacemaking sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Realizing this, we seek to build a community of redeemed sinners through confession and accountability as we seek the increasing establishment of His kingdom rule in our hearts, minds and habits.

Through His Spirit, we also seek to extend the reign of Christ on earth by serving those in need, pursuing our individual vocations to the glory of God, and inviting those who do not know Christ to join our community and the church.
