This Week's Worship Preparation Resources
Sunday School
“Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’ When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.” Matthew 19: 13-15
Our mission for ministry to children, birth through 5th grade, at Trinity Presbyterian Church is to point them to the person and work of Jesus Christ so that they would build personal relationships with Him. We want children to experience the profound love of God in Christ, to understand that they have been created for a specific and special purpose and to know that even at a young age they can be free from the power of sin and death. Our goal is to partner with families as they teach and model these truths.
Sunday school is held at 10:00. Download the registration form here (mail the completed form to the church, Box 5102, Charlottesville, VA 22905, place in Heather Chapell's mailbox, or email to Heather Chapell). For more information or to volunteer to help with Sunday school classes, contact Heather Chapell, Director of Children's Ministries, at 977-3700.
About Trinity's Children's Ministry
Expectant Parents Ministry: Expecting a baby? We will arrange for meals if you need them and would love to celebrate with you. Email Expectant Parents Ministry.
Nursery: Trinity nurseries are designed to model Christ’s love to our infants, toddlers and their families so that they will feel safe and loved in a church environment where their spiritual, physical, developmental and emotional needs are nurtured. Visit the Nursery web page.
Sunday School: Trinity Sunday School classes offer a large group meeting centered around teaching, singing and prayer. Small groups provide a follow-up to the lesson with a teacher who loves Jesus and children. An emphasis on Scripture memory is included to inspire a love for and dependence on God’s Word.
Special Events
All Saints' Fair: An event held at the end of October;
a family-friendly evening of games, food and fellowship; a great opportunity
to welcome friends and neighbors from our community.
Advent Wreath-Making: An opportunity for families to learn
about Advent and make a wreath together; held annually on the Sunday after
Thanksgiving.
Missions Conference: A special children’s program
during Trinity’s annual missions conference that provides kids with
a biblical perspective on missions and engages them with creative, hands-on
activities according to each year’s theme.
Vacation Bible School: A weeklong
event in the summer that biblically and creatively teaches children about
Jesus through stories, games, songs and crafts.
Snow Policy
The snow policy for Sunday school is as follows: if the first service is
cancelled due to inclement weather, Sunday school will be cancelled that
day. For additional winter weather information, see the home page or call
977-3700 and choose option 3 when the voice message begins.
Baptism
Baptisms of infants and children are celebrated during worship services once per month. Membership at Trinity is required for parents wishing
to have their child baptized. If you have questions about infant baptism,
Trinity recommends the booklet "Why Do We Baptize Infants?" by Bryan Chapell. Copies are available upon request.
If you are interested in having your child baptized or being baptized yourself,
please contact Joy Hancock at 977-3700.
