The Mercy Ministry Team seeks to lead the congregation in working out Trinity's vision of being "a people being transformed by the Gospel, who are passionate for God and His glory" as it relates to ministries of mercy. The Mercy Ministry Team's mission is to fulfill this vision by demonstrating God's love and compassion to the poor and needy by providing support and assistance. This support and assistance may be financial, physical or spiritual in nature and is expressed in many ways. It is exciting to see the gospel in action as we seek to minister both within and outside the church here in Central Virginia.
The Mercy Ministry team is made up of deacons and members of the congregation
who serve on three groups:
1. The Mercy Fund Management Group oversees the collection and dissemination
of financial aid to those who have legitimate need.
2. The Physical Needs Group engages in helpful construction or service projects
that witness the goodness of God through the actions of His people.
3. The Ministries Support Group supports the work of TPC and other local
ministries with the objective of community mercy outreach.
About Mercy Ministries
Mercy ministry can take on many faces as we seek to meet needs and extend
the love of Christ in a variety of ways. Sometimes we do this by supporting
other ministries that are already at work in and around the community. Support
may be through prayer, volunteer workers or financial support for these
ministries. In addition to various ministries, mercy ministry also goes
on daily and often unnoticed through many members of our church who minister
one on one to those in need. The Mercy Ministry team and the entire diaconate
are engaged in the business of encouraging and supporting this liberality
in giving, and loving our neighbor as well as one another in our Trinity
family. Mercy ministry then is not another program but a natural response
to the gospel.
