Isaiah

OLD TESTAMENT WITNESS TO THE GOSPEL

Taught by Bill Wilder

The announcement of a crucified and resurrected Messiah came like a thunderbolt to its first hearers, to some (like the apostle Paul) quite literally. As early Christians groped their way toward a fuller understanding of God’s purposes in Jesus, they found no greater witness to the gospel than the Old Testament prophet Isaiah. His words—of the incomparability of God, the redemption of His people, His plan for the Gentiles and, above all, the mysterious role of His Servant—spoke powerfully of God’s climactic work in Christ. His words still speak.
