Council Purpose:

The Women's Council has been commissioned by the Session to come alongside the officers of the church through prayer, advice, and assistance in their shepherding and care duties at their invitation.

The Women's Council seeks to:

  • ensure women's voices, perspectives, and needs are heard and considered in decisions for the church
  • minister to women and families in need of short-term guidance, intervention, encouragement, etc.
  • field and redirect needs as they arise, connecting people to the correct ministry resources within the church
  • suggest and promote female nominees for positions of leadership and service (task forces, church-wide committees)
  • be a visible and welcoming presence for women of the church (interviewing new members, church-wide communications)

Women's Council members are nominated by the church body, interviewed, trained, and then commissioned by the Session. Women serve three-year terms (with the exception that the inaugural 2023 class has some one- and two-year term councilwomen).
