Hiring of Assistant Pastor for Community Life

In the midst of a difficult season, ministry has still been happening, and we joyfully announce the hiring of Jesse Robinson as Assistant Pastor for Community Life.

Currently serving as the Interim Director of Community Life, Jesse joins us from within our own church family. Jesse has been at Trinity for the last five years and been involved in many facets of our church life. He lives in the South Parish with his wife Jessica (our wonderful Managing Director), son Amos, and daughter Abigail. Jesse has an MDiv from Westminster Theological Seminary, has church ministry experience in Philadelphia and Vancouver (Canada), and is finishing his PhD in American Religious History at the University of Virginia.

The Session created the position of Assistant Pastor for Community Life because of a need for increased pastoral care and programmatic direction of key ministries. A search team consisting of church officers and lay people was assembled back in the fall. We regularly met to pray and discern who the Lord was calling to fill this position. We widely advertised the position across the country and received many applications. After several meetings, discussions, and interviews, Jesse received the highest scores, and, after additional prayer, time, and deliberations, Jesse was unanimously chosen as the nominee for the position. The Team presented Jesse to the Session for approval in May, and he again was unanimously approved.

Jesse will begin his role as Assistant Pastor for Community Life in July. In this role, Jesse will further cultivate the small group ministry by recruiting, training, and supporting leaders. He will develop materials and will work with our elders to provide pastoral support to small groups. In addition to supervising the HUB and Accessibility Ministries and church-wide events, he will be involved in general pastoral care and other pastoral duties.

Though already known by some of you, he and Jessica both invite you to please introduce yourself. We are eager to see how Jesse’s gifts will be used to continue in the good work the Lord is doing among Trinity members.
