Prayer Service of Lament This Sunday
The tragic, senseless death of George Floyd, and the resulting protests surging through our country, have left us wrestling with the racial brokenness present throughout our history and in our communities still. We continue to navigate the strange disruption of the pandemic, which makes it that much more difficult to cry out to God in lament together, yet this is what God’s Church has always done when faced with the injustices of the world.

lament We invite you to join us as we cry out to God in our pain, our confusion, our anger, and our grief. We will host a prayer service of lament this Sunday at 8pm, over Zoom. The service will be led by Pastor Wade Bradshaw, Director of Counseling Tim Jones, and Director of Spiritual Formation Lane Cowin. The service will include opportunities for lament, repentance, and crying out to the Lord for justice. You will need to pre-register for the Zoom webinar by clicking here.

And next Sunday, June 14, at 10am, Pastor Walter Kim will lead a discussion on how we can be God’s Church and respond to the racial brokenness we see with Gospel truth and Gospel love. We will share more details about how you can join us for that conversation shortly.

Here is a testimony of someone who has depended on prayer through this season.
God Is Our Light in Darkness: Carrie's Story
Obviously we had no idea when the pandemic began that our worlds would be turned upside down. The way that Trinity structured prayer partners, prayer teams, other needs, and online community groups was so life-giving for me. Filling out the “I need prayer” portion of the survey (which went out March 20) was not easy. I was in a really dark place when I received my first email from Shannon Cappenelli who said she was praying for me, for my small business, for my safety, for my family, for my finances. I did not know Shannon. We have never met before. But she is in our Trinity community and is dedicated to prayer.

A beautiful friendship began. After Shannon was covering me with her prayers, emails turned to texting, then to phone calls and we began praying together. At the beginning of Holy Week, Shannon sent me a book that she loves. It happened to be written by one of my favorite Christian authors, Ken Gire. It was a tangible gift from God.

Next week Shannon and I will finally meet! We’re going hiking together. Our God is so good because if this pandemic hadn’t happened, I might never have met Shannon in our large community. But because of this way that Trinity connected us I now have a new sister in Christ.   —Carrie Macfarlan
